Botulinic toxin

Known as Botox, this product is a medicine used since the 80’s for treating patholgies as varied as strabismus (squinting), blepharospasm, limb spasticity after a cerebrovascular accident, tip foot (children) and excessive perspiration.

BOTOX obtained its New Drug Approval in February 2003 as frown lines treatment under the VISTABEL name (Allergan pharmaceuticals). This autorisation was granted after thorough clinical studies.

Botulinic toxin treats wrinkles resulting from excessive muscle contraction, called frown lines, which can give a severe, tired or anxious look: crow’s feet, forehead wrinkle, frown lines.

Benefits

The effects of the botulinic toxin injections appear gradually over the first 10 days. Wrinkles are smoothed over a period of 3 to 6 months, depending on patients.

Contraindications

Anyone suffering from neuromuscular diseases such as myasthenia, pregnant or breastfeeding women, people with a past history of albumin allergy.
